President's Welcome

The thirty women who founded The Village Club in 1956 would be quite interested in this new method of communicating by means of a website and the whole concept of social media, but they would be pleased to find that many of the traditions of the Club continue today. This organization has brought women together and created a rich history of learning, sharing friendships and engaging in philanthropy for the larger community.

There is always a lot going on at the Club. We are an association OF members not an association WITH members. That is an important distinction. It means that our members are actively engaged in the process of organizing programs, classes, travel opportunities, and social events, things in which they have an interest or which they would find entertaining or informative. Our members take an active role in maintaining the beautiful, welcoming atmosphere of our clubhouse and in insuring that we have a strong financial foundation for the future. Some do lovely fresh flower arrangements every week; some design and plant urns at the entrance as well as pots and beds on the grounds; others share their skills in finance, fund-raising and philanthropy.

In addition to participating in these activities, members play bridge, Mah Jongg, can be involved in "Clubs Within the Club" such as the Professional Women's Group, the Epicureans, several book clubs and a Garden Club. The Village Club has reciprocal arrangements with Great Oaks Country Club for golfing and dining. We also have reciprocity agreements with a number of clubs throughout the country and Europe.

Dining is an important aspect of our club. We have an award-winning chef who offers diverse lunch and dinner menus throughout the week and a lovely brunch on Sundays. Dining is available in our beautiful Dining Room, in the Presidents' Lounge and on the Wyatt Terrace when weather permits.

The Club may also be used for special events sponsored by members. We host business meetings, weddings, bridal and baby showers, graduation parties, college and university events, and so many more. The Club has facility-wide Wi-Fi access, audiovisual capabilities and onsite catering.
